History and future intertwine in this winery in Montecchia di Crosara, in the province of Verona, created and developed by the Tessari family for four generations.
An articulated family tree that unravels from Amedeo at the beginning of the last century to the present day with the current leadership of Michele, passing through Fulvio and his son Amedeo, in a line of family continuity that is almost unique in our country.
Today Ca’ Rugate is known throughout the world for the quality and style of its wines, which are born from the work and care in the more than 90 hectares among Soave Classico, Valpolicella and Lessini Durello, where native varieties such as Garganega, Trebbiano di Soave and Durella are grown for the whites, and Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone for the reds.
Ca’ Rugate is a winery that produces about 750,000 thousand bottles, 50% of which are for the international market in 45 countries. In Italy, Ca’ Rugate wines cross more than 95 provinces.
Wanting to provide a “certification” to the rigorous work of sustainability and respect for the environment that has always been practiced, Ca’ Rugate’s vineyards are organically managed.
Ca’ Rugate is also home to a Wine Museum, an exhibit of more than 150 tools and implements used by the Tessari family in more than a century of winemaking.
This Museum, a site of regional interest, is set in a 1900s farmhouse, documenting the path of grape and wine production and the everyday life of the rural world.
It can be visited daily and is located inside the Montecchia di Crosara winery.
Ca’ Rugate, is Educational Farm of the Veneto Region, with dedicated educational paths, for schools starting from kindergartens.
Since 2023, Ca’ Rugate has also been a Social Farm, home to a wildlife park of over 3,000 square meters. Extraordinary beauty under the open sky: a true oasis of silence, nature and sky.
This virtuous project finds collaboration with local social realities through activities aimed at enhancing inclusive tourism and creating workshops for people with different emotionalities.

WINE TASTING EXPERIENCE – 50min – € 35pp
The Wine Tasting Experience is a tasting of 5 wines of excellence, selected from the most representative of our labels including our Vermouth of Amarone, which talks about terroir, ancient history and out-of-the- box sensoriality.
Following this carefully-reasoned sensorial sequence, the visitor receives a very complete impression of the nature and style of Ca’ Rugate wines.
The wines to be tasted represent the most authentic expression of the three denominations – Soave Classico – Valpolicella – Lessini Durello – where the Tessari Family have always cultivated their vines. These are vineyards cultivated at considerable altitude, on terraced ground with slopes that can exceed 30%.
The heroic winegrowing in these terrains has always yielded unique wines, real “emotions in a bottle” that can challenge the passing of time.
To accompany the tastings there will be handmade grissini breadsticks and vegan/gluten-free rice crackers.

Had a great time at this beautiful family owned winery.
The wine tasting was amazing (bought a couple of bottles). Snacking was also yummy! Good charcuterie board. Our guide Luca was the best! Such a nice, kind and funny guy.

Zumindest für Deutsche noch ein Geheimtipp. Schöne Rotweine aus den Weinbergen im Valpolicella und sehr mineralische Soave Weissweine. Sehr fachkundige Probe mit genug Zeit die Weine zu probieren. Es gibt wohl eine Probierpauschale die aber bei Kauf verrechnet wird.

Highly recommended!! My wife and I stumbled across this Soave wine about 5 years ago while in the US and fell in love instantly. As it is not available in Ontario, every trip we would bring back a number of bottles to enjoy. Fast forward to this summer when we were in Italy and spent 3 days in the Soave region. We attended a tour of the winery and were very impressed with tour, the museum and the many wines. The staff was very knowledgeable and the tour was very informative.
